UMPI’s Auditorium in Wieden Hall has a rich history of serving the region as a cultural arts center, an academic training ground, and a public forum for the exchange of ideas. Its stage has featured world-class singers, classical musicians, Shakespearian troupes, magicians, comedians, and New York City dance groups. But that stage, and the space as a whole, has succumbed to more than 50 years of use on a tight budget.
Fundraising kick-off event
To officially begin its fundraising efforts for the Auditorium Renovation Project, the University partnered with the Presque Isle Community Players in 2013 to host a very special Fall Dinner Theater Presentation titled “Country in the County.” The evening of live music featured some of the area’s most talented singers and musicians, performing everything from Johnny Cash to the Dixie Chicks in UMPI’s Campus Center. The University continues to host more performances and cultural events to benefit the Auditorium Renovation Project.
