Individual counseling helps students address issues causing emotional distress and those which may be interfering with their personal goals and/or academic success. UMPI students are able to meet with a professional counselor to address such issues as stress and anxiety, relationship concerns, adjustment difficulties, depression, self-esteem, eating and body image concerns, and a variety of other emotional and developmental issues.
Non-clinical personal counseling is offered in the Student Support Services office located in the CIL. Students also have access to clinical counseling in Emerson Annex; the clinical counselor does coordinate services if a student already has a professional counseling relationship. If students choose, they may also access clinical counseling from community providers.
