“Looperist” Taylor Reed set to perform at UMPI

Published:

Tampa, Florida-based musician Taylor Reed will travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday, March 27 at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center for a rhythm and soul-filled performance that swerves from pop to R&B to jazz music. This event, sponsored by UMPI’s Student Activities Office, is free and open to the public and donations will be accepted at the door.

Reed is an R&B, pop, neo-soul artist who tours regionally and nationally. Touted as a looperist/multi-instrumentalist/groove enthusiast, she channels her natural creativity and spontaneity by weaving the sounds of violin, guitar, and vocals together using an electronic looping station, which allows her to build an elegantly layered, engrossingly soulful sound.

Intertwining violin melodies with groove-infused renditions of pop and rock hits, Reed’s music elevates any space. Her new original work connects on the most basic level, finding common ground in experiences shared and exposing beauty and hope through her unique perspective.

Reed, a self-taught musician, cut her teeth as a violinist in a gypsy jazz troupe playing in downtown Ybor City, Florida. Her formative influences include both cutting-edge pop icons such as Michael Jackson and Coldplay, all the way to modern day R&B, and also more classical artists such as Johann Sebastian Bach.

She currently resides in Tampa Bay, Florida with her husband, Joe, and two dogs, MooCow and Dragon.
