Class of 2022 Commencement
For our 113th Commencement, UMPI plans to host an in-person Commencement Ceremony–our first since 2019–as long as the current health situation permits it. Our Commencement activities will take place on Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. in Gentile Hall, and will also live stream on UMPI’s Youtube page. We’re so pleased also to be celebrating the members of the Class of 2020 and 2021, who have been invited to march in this ceremony.
Read on for more details from our Registrar about things you’ll need to do to prepare for our Commencement Ceremony in May. - There are several locations available for parking. Please see our event parking map.
- Overflow seating is available in the Campus Center Multi-Purpose Room.
- The Business Club will be selling flowers as a fundraiser ahead of Commencement Exercises in the Gentile Hall lobby.

- Mouse Island Creatives will be taking photos during graduation. The purchase of graduation pictures is completely optional; if interested, email grad2022@mouseislandcreatives.com.
- Campus Store hours during graduation activities are: Friday, 5-6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cap and Gown Order*
Cap and gown orders will ship to your home this year. Please complete this regalia order form in order to start the process. Orders MUST be placed by April 15th! Please note that if you want a photo of you in your regalia featured in the Commencement Slideshow (see below), you’ll need to order it by no later than 3/24 in order to receive it in time (shipping time is 3 weeks).
Tickets*
Tickets for Commencement will be available starting Wednesday, April 20th in the Registrar’s Office. Students who are marching may have up to six tickets for seating in Gentile Hall. You must come in person, with an ID, to get your tickets.

Commencement Slideshow
As part UMPI’s Commencement, we will have a Class of 2022 slideshow that will list your name, degree and other commendations, as well as a photo or video of yourself if you’re able to provide it. This will allow graduating students who aren’t able to march to still have a way to participate. Please submit your photo/video no later than Thursday, April 21 to be included in the slideshow.
Professional Photo Opportunity
Graduating seniors will have the special opportunity of getting professional headshots taken with campus photographer Rowena McPherson on Wednesday, April 6th. These headshots could be used for the commencement slideshow or for future job search efforts and other professional needs. Schedule a session here.
Formal Commencement Announcements*
Special formal graduation announcements will be available for you to send to family and friends. An electronic Commencement Announcement will be emailed to you as a PDF and JPG on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Each member of the Class of 2022 will also receive one free printed announcement; these can be picked up in the Registrar’s Office when picking up your tickets.
Alumni Diploma Frames*
The frames have a mahogany finish, and the mat is imprinted with the University’s logo, under glass. These will be available for purchase from the UMPI Spirit Store.
University Merchandise*
Additional UMPI merchandise can be purchased at the online Spirit Store.
