UMPI hosts film series on the Holocaust

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host a film series titled Remember the Past to Build the Future on Wednesdays between April 17 and May 1, featuring three films connected to the Holocaust during and after World War II. The series kicked off with a showing of Karski & the Lords of Humanity on April 17, and continues with Bogdan’s Journey on April 24, and Blinky & Me on May 1; films begin at 5 p.m. in the Campus Center Multi-Purpose Room.

Rep. Stewart, Ladner to be honored guests during UMPI’s 110th Commencement

University of Maine at Presque Isle President Ray Rice has announced that Maine State Representative Harold “Trey” Stewart will deliver the commencement address and Mr. Daniel Ladner—a well-known and much-loved educator and advocate for music and the cultural arts—will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree during the University’s 110th Commencement Ceremony, to be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

UMPI’s Studio 923 hosts Trash to Fashion Show on Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, local artists and designers will transform recycled materials into innovative fashion pieces when the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Studio 923 Art Club hosts its 4th Annual Trash to Fashion Show on Monday, April 22, at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.

UMPI’s Salmagundi Film Series presents Paper Tigers

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present its next Salmagundi Film Series screening on Tuesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center Multi-Purpose Room. In conjunction with the Aroostook County Action Program and the Aroostook Community Collaborative, and in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, the series will feature Paper Tigers.

UMPI hosts spring/summer management courses

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Employer U program, which focuses on providing workforce development opportunities for the region, will offer two courses this spring/summer beginning Tuesday, April 30, as part of its American Management Association’s University certificate program.

UMPI hosts hometown premiere of John Cariani’s LOVE/SICK

The University of Maine at Presque Isle and the Presque Isle Community Players are pleased to present the northern Maine debut of John Cariani’s play LOVE/SICK this spring, bringing the Presque Isle native’s dark comedy to the stage for its hometown premiere. LOVE/SICK performances will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, April 5, 6, 12, and 13 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium in Wieden Hall; doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

UMPI students present screenings of original film, “The 9th Reward”

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Cinemaniacs Film Club will present The 9th Reward, an original student film, during two special screenings this spring. The first showing will be held during University Day activities on Wednesday, April 10 at 1:15 p.m. in Pullen Hall room 214. The second showing will take place on Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m. in the Campus Center, on the big screen in the St. John and Aroostook Rooms.

UMPI presents comedy record-holder Sammy Obeid

Prepare for a night full of entertainment and laughs as stand-up comedian Sammy Obeid—who holds the comedy record for performing more than two and a half years’ worth of consecutive comedy performances—comes to the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center.
