Welcome to our Early College page for high school students.  Here you will discover the opportunities that UMPI provides to save you time and money on your college degree and enrich your learning experiences while still in high school.  We partner with a growing number of Maine high schools to provide Concurrent Enrollment courses which allow students to earn college credit for specific, approved courses.  These courses will also satisfy requirements for your high school diploma.  In addition, we offer Aspirations, an early college program providing access to UMPI’s 100 and 200 level courses either online or at the UMPI campus for qualified students.

Through waivers provided by the State of Maine Department of Education and UMPI, students are allowed up to a total of 12 credits per academic year per student combined across all University of Maine System campuses as well as the Maine Community College System. These 12 credits, through the programs of Aspirations and/or concurrent enrollment courses allow for qualified students to a free or reduced tuition rate. With both of these programs, students earn college credit, have a University transcript, and get an early start on their college degree.
