Our Business Administration students are exposed to all major business functions–such as accounting, marketing, finance, human resource management, production/operation, project management, information systems, and recreation–and you’ll be able to develop your small business management and entrepreneurial skills while also preparing to lead organizations through innovation and change. Program Offerings

This degree prepares you for careers in accounting and finance, including tax, auditing, corporate accounting, governmental accounting, and not-for-profit accounting, though our graduates have also moved into positions in banking and management. In fact, since accounting is the language of business, accounting degrees usually open doors wide, in the private, not-for-profit and government sectors.

The Management and Leadership concentration within our Business Administration program is all about motivating people. The greatest production plan in the world goes nowhere without mobilizing a staff to do the work. Our students learn to manage through leadership, conflict resolution, change management, communication and human relation skills.

    Marketing Concentration

Leading the technology initiatives of tomorrow is all about understanding how business functions in a global environment today.

The Project Management and Information Systems concentration in our Business Administration program teaches students how to effectively manage projects and discover how the business process can be transformed through technology.

Students will analyze and manage business information using databases, networks and other technologies, and receive hands-on training on a wide range of project management activities and computer-based information systems. They will also have the opportunity to participate in assignments that allow them to apply the skills they learn in the program to real-world projects.

    Supply Chain Management concentration

In this concentration, you get the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in the classroom and in the field related to Recreation, Tourism and Leisure.

    Our concentration offers students:

    • A comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for a variety of careers in both the public and private sectors of Recreation and Leisure services.
    • A comprehensive internship program that requires students to get experience in a field that interests them.
    • Opportunities to travel as far away as Alaska and participate in jobs ranging from white water rafting and working in National Parks to running community recreation programs and camps.
    • Practical and applied applications of outdoor recreation, recreation management and community recreation.

In this certificate program, you’ll learn the foundations of how to effectively manage projects and how the business process can be transformed through technology. The certificate is earned after the successful completion of six UMPI Business courses, including project and change management and strategic professional communication.

    YourPace

In addition to a traditional classroom setting, adult learners seeking a BA in Business Administration have the option of participating in UMPI’s YourPace program, our online competency based degree completion program (CBE).  By its nature, YourPace offers adult learners an adaptive platform to move through competencies with content focused on mastery of stated outcomes. The competencies are structured to recognize your previous learning, allowing you to spend more time on the information you are less familiar with, saving you time to completion.   We have mapped these competencies back to our traditional courses that in turn, lead to a bachelors degree in business administration.

Our Business Administration program prepares students to enter professional training programs and future careers in:

    • Banks
    • Retail store chains
    • Manufacturing
    • Telemarketing
    • Insurance companies
    • Hospitals
    • Governmental agencies
    • IT project management
    • Public accounting firms
    • Outdoor recreation management
    • Sport management complexes
    • and many other organizations
