Art

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.

As a student in our Art Program, you can expect an engaging environment that encourages your artistic and intellectual growth while preparing you for careers in the studio, design lab and art gallery. We do that by combining a stimulating regimen of studio work with the historical context of a liberal arts core and a wide-reaching series of Art History Courses. We offer study focuses in Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Printmaking, Digital Media, Drawing, or Painting. Minors in Art, Graphic Design and Film Studies are also available. And because our faculty members regularly exhibit their own work, this creates an exciting creative learning environment that values real-world preparation.

    Senior Shows

Peer and faculty critique is a cornerstone for us, and gives seniors the rare chance at the undergrad level to prepare a senior thesis series and solo show.

    Curatorial Know-How

In our program, you’ll get real-world, hands-on experience in exhibition practices.

    Impacting community through Art

In our program, you’ll get real-world, hands-on experience in exhibition practices.

    Art is all around you

Galleries, campus hallways and even classrooms are studded with artwork… and if you look carefully, you can catch a glimpse of an Alberto Giacometti sketch, or an Andy Warhol photograph.

    Facilities

Our program is pleased to offer a wide range of art spaces to our students outfitted with the equipment needed to learn, practice and perfect your artistic skills.

    Art Room

This enormous room (it’s the entire east wing of Pullen’s third floor) is divided into several learning spaces and enjoys bountiful natural lighting from the bank of windows on the north side.

    Dark Room

As many programs are eliminating wet photography, we here at UMPI believe it is important to experience the legacy of the medium through the ability to offer a modest darkroom as a means of expression.

    Gallery space

Though our campus is small, we are home to two galleries. Learn more about our Reed Fine Art Gallery and our Pullen Art Gallery.
