Dear UMPI Community,
Effective August 18 and through September 30, 2021, the University of Maine at Presque Isle, along with all UMS institutions, will require face coverings indoors for all persons regardless of vaccination status. This requirement will be revisited and updated as warranted by September 30.
Exceptions to the indoor requirement include the following:
- When a person is alone in an office, dormitory, or other room with a closed door;
- When eating or drinking in a space where eating or drinking is permitted;
- When a medical accommodation has been granted by appropriate University officials;
- In other special circumstances as determined and notified by UMPI leadership.
Face coverings are not required of any student, faculty, staff member, or visitor when outdoors on university property. However, coverings are strongly recommended even when outdoors in which physical distancing is difficult or when large groups are involved.
For more detailed information, you can find updated information from the University of Maine System here. For more specific information on face coverings, as well as vaccination requirements and testing, you can contact Fred Thomas, Director of Safety and Security (207-768-9580).
Our continued thanks for your ongoing dedication to ensuring our best opportunity for everyone’s safe return this fall semester.
