Dear UMPI Community,
An important update on face coverings for this coming week. As noted earlier this afternoon in the Chancellor’s missive, face coverings are required during Finals Week at UMPI at all indoor in-person academic activities, including classroom activities, lab work, performances, and course examinations. Face coverings are encouraged, but remain optional, in other indoor public areas (the CIL, the Campus Center, Gentile Hall, etc.).
Just a reminder that individual locations, offices, or events may also be requiring face masks as well; please be mindful of signs posted in offices or public areas to this effect.
Our plans for UMPI’s Commencement on Saturday will require proof of vaccination or negative test. Given the continued high level of transmission in Aroostook County and the growing levels of transmission in other counties across Maine, there is a possibility that face coverings will be required at Commencement as well. As noted by the Chancellor, a final decision in this regard will be made next week prior to rehearsal exercises.
My thanks to you all for your continued care and support for one another’s safety.
Ray
