4/2/21 – Message from President Rice to campus

Dear UMPI community,

By now, you’ve heard the news that all Maine residents over the age of 16 will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting Wednesday, April 7. You may also be aware that the University of Maine System is encouraging participation in the COVID-19 vaccination effort as a key step in our plans for a back-to-normal fall semester.

As a campus, we want to ensure you have all the resources you need to get your vaccine. Please be sure to read this very helpful BDN article about what you need to know to schedule your vaccine appointment. Also, it’s our understanding that college students can sign up with Northern Light Health A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle as early as this afternoon (4/2) and this weekend for vaccine appointments starting 4/9. In this case, there is no need to fill out insurance information and those who are from outside the state of Maine will be accepted. Sign up on the Northern Light Health website.

We’ll be sharing more information with you next week as more details become available. Until then, thank you for all you’ve been doing to keep our campus safe and healthy this academic year, and we greatly appreciate you taking this next step in moving us closer to the best summer and fall we can possibly have.
